It's fair to say that motorbikes are in my blood. As the family photos above show, I didn't stand a chance lol!
However, my career started with cars, not bikes... as an apprentice at Aston Martin at the age of 16. I wasn't working on the modern cars though, my experience was in the Heritage Division of Aston’s original workshops in Newport Pagnell, working with all the vintage models. I learned all aspects of restoration and maintenance of these classic sports cars over the years. As you can imagine, only the best will do at Aston’s so my background is cemented in that philosophy; whatever the task, the end result has to be perfect.
It was a privilege to be working on some of the most prized classic cars in the world, but my real love was always motorbikes and in my spare time I had been building customs in my workshop at home. After exhibiting these bikes the enquiries came flooding in so I made the decision to turn my hobby into my day job.
I set up my own workshop just outside Milton Keynes (UK), where I now spend my days building custom motorcycles for clients all over the world. At weekends however, you'll find me spannering for MMB Racing during the British Superbikes calendar (read more here).
When building my bikes I work traditionally with my hands – as I did at Aston's – using vintage lathes, milling machines and other tools that my great-grandad might have used. No computers or CNC here, just a meticulous eye for detail and the skills to accomplish perfect end results. According to my clients, this is why they come to me; to have a hand-crafted motorcycle built to the highest specifications.
I don't build bikes speculatively and then try to sell them, my bikes are all commissions – produced in partnership with the client. Consulted throughout the design and build process, each client can be assured that the outcome will be a tailor made, one-of-a-kind motorcycle.
If this is the kind of motorcycle you need in your life, please get in touch.
