I followed track racing as a kid and remember my dad taking me to the British round of MotoGP when it was at Donington Park. Rossi was at his best that day, head-to-head with Max Biaggi in the pouring rain. The crowds went mad when Biaggi took a tumble right in front of us – him being the villain of the piece at the time. I've always followed road racing too and it's fair to say that I'm a massive fan of the Isle of Man TT. Riding the track yourself on 'Mad Sunday' really puts it into perspective; how these guys race that track is beyond me!
So it was a dream come true when I was asked to join a British Supersport team, racing on the British Superbikes calendar. Spannering with MMB Racing has been an unreal experience – fulfilling all my childhood dreams and meeting many of my heroes in the process. The knowledge I have gained working for MMB has inevitably rubbed off on my own business too, so it's a win-win situation for me!
As word gets around about what I do at the weekends, I've noticed that my workshop has been filling up with race bikes of late! From prepping bikes for track days to full race builds, I seem to have unwittingly found myself a niche as a race bike specialist!
